L— Lament

Lament means being honest about things that are broken or painful. Take your time and stop if it hurts too much.

Safety: Make sure you feel safe. Take deep breaths. Cross hands over chest, and tap one hand at a time.

Name: The loss or sadness as clearly as you can. You can sway or rock your body. Breathe.

Hold: Do not try to fix or seek answers. Let the truth be. Move hands over heart. Breathe.

Observe: Notice your feelings (sad, angry, numb.) Don't judge them. Breathe.

Speak: When ready, say what is in your heart to God or your moral center. Say what needs to be heard. Open hands with palms up. Breathe.

End: In silence. Place hands together or on your lap. Breathe.

May what is lost or broken, be held gently.
