Spiritual Care for All
X— Crossing the Midline
Gentle cross body movements can calm the nervous system and ground the senses.
Centering: Imagine a line from your nose down the middle of your body. This is the midline.
Cross: Bring your right hand across your body and touch your left shoulder or arm. Then your left hand on your right shoulder or arm. Or cross your hands over your chest. You may say, "what feels divided in me can be made whole."
Tap: Gently tap your shoulder or arm slowly, first with your left hand, then the right. There is no rush, just a slow rhythm of tapping. Keep taking turns, the right hand, then the left. You may use words like "here/now, or safe/rest" with your in and out breath.
Close: Let your hands rest. Notice any changes.
May I bring together what feels divided.
